INDUSTRIAL

  • Eurocell Wood Products Sawmill | Nelson

    1951 | Site 2.45ha | GFA 16,470m2

Originally established in 1951 for Waimea Sawmillers Ltd (a subsidiary of Gibbons), the Tahunanui sawmill is one of Gibbons’ original properties. The sawmill has been in continuous operation since opening and today is leased to Eurocell Wood Products Ltd. which focuses solely on milling and processing Douglas Fir supplied from the region’s plantations.

  • Bidfood Distribution Centre | LQS | Richmond, Tasman

    2017 | GFA 3,070m2

Bidfood are a wholesale food distribution and logistics company who service the Upper South Island from their central Richmond location. They relocated to Gibbons’ LQS Industrial Park from their previous site in Nelson due to capacity issues and significant inefficiencies. Following our Design-Build-Lease model, Gibbons provided Bidfood a greenfield site and design solution which allows their business to perform at its best. The results from moving to a bespoke solution were significantly improved efficiency, reduced handling time, and greater staff engagement and satisfaction, all whilst still allowing for future growth.

  • ITM Frame & Truss and Joinery Factory | LQS | Richmond, Tasman

    2019 | GFA 3,185m2

ITM was looking to consolidate their Nelson prenail frames & truss plant and their Motueka joinery factory into one central site. Lower Queen Street Industrial Park was selected as the solution for their business needs and had the appropriate zoning. They approached Gibbons for a Design-Build-Lease option and, in working closely with ITM, the new factories were delivered on time and within 12 months from the signing of the Heads of Agreement through to tenancy handover.

COMMERCIAL

  • Lucas House | Nelson

    2014 | GFA 1,896m2

Lucas House represents a significant step towards an environmentally responsible and realisable timber commercial building type. Incorporating new earthquake dampening technology, new timber technology utilising locally engineered and produced timber components, multiple stories, and an inner-city site, Lucas House provided Gibbons the opportunity to create a unique project for the region.

  • UQS Offices | Richmond, Tasman

    2015 | GFA 1,540m2

Part of the UQS Retail Complex are two office buildings that employ the latest timber engineering advancements for earthquake dampening technology. Both buildings are designed primarily with the safety of people in mind during an earthquake. Gibbons worked closely with our innovative consultant team and the University of Canterbury to develop this “damage-avoidance-design” technology.

  • Clifford House | Nelson

    2017 | GFA 1,100m2

Originally built in the 1970’s, Clifford House was in need of a seismic upgrade. The project involved significant foundation strengthening to support a new K-Brace frame which rose from the basement to the second floor, and a complete removal of the old masonry top floor. Once the seismic upgrade was completed, the building then received a full refurbishment including a new lift, new internal stairs, external windows and doors, and exterior treatments and cladding, followed by a modern office fitout for the tenant.

  • Nelson Evening Mail | Nelson

    2018 | Site 2,473m2 | GFA 2,850m2

Originally purpose-built in the early 1900’s, the Nelson Evening Mail Building has seen a few iterations over the years. However, the historic A-rated façade of the building has always remained and is an important part of Nelson’s architectural history. With the downsizing of the printed paper and a new focus on digital media, it was a perfect opportunity to re-purpose the building as a multi-use office and commercial space in the heart of Nelson. Along with the original Nelson Mail newspaper’s office (now Stuff), ten new businesses have moved in to make the Nelson Evening Mail their home.
