STAKEHOLDER NEWSLETTER | SEPTEMBER 2024

OVERVIEW

A Message From Our Managing Director - Scott Gibbons

Hello Spring!

This has been a busy quarter for us and it is hard to imagine that Christmas is just around the corner now. This winter we settled in as a team, collectively focusing on high expectations and how we could best support our tenants and each other through this busy time.

Nelson Junction was all-go as we opened five more shops during the last few months, with another two soon to open their doors as well. With so much to celebrate, I would like to invite you to our Nelson Junction Grand Opening on September 28th from 1pm – 5pm, where we will have live music, spot prizes to be won, face painting for the kids, and in-store specials to mark this milestone.

We also have more big news to share onsite at Nelson Junction, in case you missed the announcement last week, that Woolworths will be coming to the development. The Woolworths supermarket will be situated at the southern end of the Nelson Junction, right across from Speight’s Ale House, and is set to open in late 2025. We are thrilled to introduce such a beloved brand to the vibrant mix of stores at Nelson Junction, further establishing it as a premier shopping destination for the Nelson Tasman region.

Berryfields Crossing is also ramping up again as we begin our Stage 2 development at the prime location on the busy corner of Lower Queen Street and Berryfield Drive.

A new focus for us this period has been the uptake of social media to highlight our development centres. We now have five development centre Facebook pages to help promote our tenants and stay connected with our local stakeholders. We also hope that this will help to create a better user experience for each centre by sharing more up-to-date information. This is new territory for us and we are excited to see how people are already engaging with the Facebook pages.

As we move into the last quarter of 2024, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support through what has been a challenging year for many. We remain committed to you and look forward to working together over this next period of time.

Scott Gibbons - Managing Director

SUPPORTING OUR COMMUNITY

Celebrating Cancer Society Nelson Tasman's 60th Anniversary

The Gibbons team were looking their finest at the Cancer Society Nelson Tasman Diamond Gala in May. This marked six decades of the Cancer Society Nelson Tasman’s unwavering commitment to our community, and it was wonderful celebrate this incredible organisation and be part of such an amazing event where they raised over $85,000 on the night.

We are proud to give ongoing support to the Cancer Society Nelson Tasman with our “Local Hero Sponsorship.” This enables them to provide a wide range of services to support people and their families facing a cancer diagnosis in our community. This includes support groups, counselling, support grants, volunteer drivers and yoga and gym programmes. We all know someone who has been affected by cancer, and the support provided by The Cancer Society is so important to ensure that no one faces cancer alone.

As a family and business, we actively support a range of initiatives that have a lasting positive impact on the communities in which we operate. If you would like to see more of what we do in our community, visit:

Gibbons Centres on Facebook

We have been busy over the last quarter extending our Social Media network to include Facebook pages for each of our development centres. We hope that this gives the local users of the centres more up-to-date information on sales and promotions from our tenants, and also highlight new tenants and new products. Like and follow these pages so you can stay connected to your favourite commercial precincts. And of course, you are welcome to follow our Gibbons Holdings page to keep informed of our overall group activities and community projects if you aren’t already.

Also, we would like to invite our tenants to get in touch with Christina christina@gibbons.co.nz with links to your Facebook profiles so we can follow you too!

DEVELOPMENTS | Winter Update

Our Developments

Nelson Junction

The Nelson region’s newest home improvement and lifestyle centre is all the buzz now with 11 of the 13 tenancies leased, and another five shops opening their doors this past quarter—Baby Factory, Early Settler, and Toyworld, JB Hi-Fi, Chemist Warehouse which just opened in the last few weeks. Remaining tenancy fit outs in progress are Petstock (opening end of September) and Aki Sushi (opening October). This means that the construction of Stage 1 is nearly complete! We would like to welcome all our new tenants and customers to Nelson Junction and also take this opportunity to thank our delivery partner, Gibbons Naylor, and all our subcontractors and project team who made this project a success.

As our Stage 1 winds down, Stage 2 is ramping up. Gibbons is delighted to announce that Woolworths will soon join our Nelson Junction family!

The new Woolworths supermarket will be situated at the Southern end of the Nelson Junction development, right across from Speight’s Ale House, and is set to open in late 2025.

We are thrilled to introduce such a beloved brand to the vibrant mix of stores at Nelson Junction, further establishing it as a premier shopping destination for the Nelson-Tasman region. Follow our Nelson Junction FB page to keep up with our progress here so you don’t miss any announcements!

Berryfields Crossing

The planning for our next stage at Berryfields Crossing is now underway with further commercial opportunities available on the road-fronting corner of the site. We are now seeking expressions of interest to be part of this exciting second stage of development. The Stage 2 development will be a new mixed Commercial and Quick Service Retail complex at the prime location on the busy corner of Lower Queen Street and Berryfield Drive with great visibility, and will sit adjacent to established Food & Beverage and Entertainment offerings such as Silky Otter, Joes Garage, Eat Italy and Burger N Beast. This new complex will have various opportunities for leasing available, ranging from 80m2 retail spaces, through to 1,000m2 commercial spaces.

And we are currently working closely with a popular grocery brand as part of our Stage 2 programme. The addition of a supermarket will further ensure that Berryfields Crossing will become the premiere community hub for Richmond West.

We are also proud to announce that in May, our Silky Otter Cinemas project at Berryfields Crossing was entered into the Registered Master Builders New Zealand Commercial Project Awards by our delivery partner, Gibbons Naylor, and was awarded a Bronze Award in the in the Tourism and Leisure category. These commercial awards have a strong focus around the process and how the project was successfully delivered, as opposed to a more traditional design award competition focusing on architectural design. Demonstrating successful navigation of potential issues and constraints a project may face with successful and innovative solutions and collaboration of the delivery team, design team and the client, carried strong merit with the judges. Gibbons Naylor played a key role from the early planning stages along with our architects at Ignite . This milestone achievement highlights the exceptional collaboration and dedication of all teams involved.

Lower Queen Street

As we continue to develop the infrastructure onsite at Lower Queen Street Industrial Park, we also broke ground on a new office building for our existing tenant, Waimea Group, this past quarter. By the end of July, the slab was poured, framing and steel installed, and roofing installed. As you can see from the photo, construction is well underway for completion by the end of September.

A Warm Welcome to Our New Tenants

TENANT UPDATE | Welcome

In addition to the new tenants that have opened their doors at Nelson Junction, we would also like to warmly welcome Pumps & Fliters, Findex at the Nelson Mail Building, Perke Peche at UQS Shopping Centre, and Raw Essentials at Stoneridge on Lunn.
